Tortuga war ein 2013 in Graz gegründetes Kollektiv, das die handgedruckte Publikation (Zine/Heft) als hauptsächliches künstlerisches Ausdrucksmittel nutzte. Darüber hinaus verstand sich der Tortuga Kulturverein als experimentelle Plattform, wobei das Spiel mit Formaten, Disziplinen und Medien stets Teil der Arbeit war. Die eigene kollektive Annäherung an Themenfelder passierte meist in Dialog mit den Positionen anderer, verbunden mit dem Anspruch, gemeinsame Plattformen einzurichten und zu besiedeln. Dabei ging es um das Ausloten verschiedenster Medienkanäle von Zine über Ausstellung, Performance, Hörspiel, Konzertabend, Druckwerk bis hin zum Internet-Blog (der seit 2025 offline ist).

Die jeweiligen Schwerpunktthemen “Grenze” (2013/14), “Lärm” (2015/16), “Körper” (2016/17), „Ver“ (2017) spannen thematische Felder auf und dienen zugleich als Kristallisationspunkte der Auseinandersetzung. Das so entstandene Material wird im Sinne einer Do-It-Together Herangehensweise kollektiv weiterverarbeitet bzw. „geremixt“.

Tortuga was a collective that uses DIY-printed publications (zines/booklets) as its main artistic medium. Founded in Graz in 2013, the Tortuga cultural association furthermore understood itself as an experimental platform, in which playing with formats, disciplines, and media was elementary to their working method. Themes were usually approached collectively, in dialogue with the positions of others and in connection with the aim of setting up common platforms. This also involved exploring a wide variety of media channels from zine to exhibition, performance, radio play, concert evening, print work, and web blog (which is offline since 2025).

The focal themes „Grenze (Border)“ (2013/14), „Lärm (Noise)“ (2015/16), „Körper (Body)“ (2016/17), „Ver-“ (2017) open wide thematic fields and at the same time serve as crystallization points for artistic and discoursive analysis. The resulting material is collectively processed or „remixed“, using a do-it-together approach.
