Der 10-Meter-Sprungturm – eine damals moderne Stahlbetonkonstruktion – wurde zum Wahrzeichen des 1928 errichteten Kongressbads. Im Zuge des Umbaus wurde er 1981 abgerissen und mit seinen Überresten die Sprunggrube aufgefüllt. Die Betontrümmer befinden sich noch heute unter dem Schwimmbecken. Eingebettet in eine Klangkulisse aus verfremdeten Platschgeräuschen wird der Sprungturm durch zehnmaliges Aufeinanderstapeln als 100m hohe funktionslose brutalistische Skulptur wiedererrichtet.

Für die Ausstellung „Handeln im Jetzt“ (2022) im Leopold Museum im Zuge des Ö1-Talentestipendiums (kuratiert von Philippe Batka) wurde die VR-Installation Luftbad wurde für den Museumsraum adaptiert.

The 10-metre diving tower – a reinforced concrete construction which was modern at the time – became the landmark of Kongressbad, which was built in 1928. In the course of the reconstruction, the tower was demolished in 1981 and the diving pit was filled in with its remains. The concrete rubble can still be found under the pool today. Embedded in a soundscape of alienated splashing noises, the diving tower is rebuilt as a 100m high functionless brutalist sculpture by stacking it ten times on top of each other.

For the exhibition “Acting in the Now” in the Leopold Museum Vienna (as part of the Ö1 talent scholarship for visual arts), curated by Philippe Batka, the VR installation Luftbad was adapted for the museum space.

The MEDIA AND SOUND POOL in Kongreßbad occupies Vienna’s historic swimming, sun- and-air bath with a series of AR sound installations.
